A downloadable Mountaineer VR for Windows

VR Climbing Simulation Game on a giant snowy mountain. Will you be able to reach the top?

You're a professional mountaineer in the middle of the woods near your camp. On the horizon you see a massive frozen mountain. Your mission: get to the top without dying in the process... too many times.

Experiment climbing in a natural environment thanks to immersive virtual reality. A massive mountain, atmospheric effects, realistic ambient sounds, immersive setting, climbing, locomotion, flare guns... all developed and designed to enjoy it in virtual reality.

Developed with Unity and UnityXR. Created and tested using Oculus Quest 2, but it can be tested with other devices and controllers with a similar button disposition. You need a virtual reality device and controllers to play it.

I hope you enjoy!

Can you PM me for a question?

Nice work. I like that it wasn't a short 'game' and it changed the type of climb you did at each stage.

Do you run out of energy at any point? I hear the character panting after doing some of the tasks for a while. I was half expecting some vision problem to start but it never did (maybe I didn't wait long enough).

Some suggestions if I may (spoiler alert):

I spent the first few minutes trying to put the compass and map into some backpack or pocket that I thought I would have. I don't think they were needed but being able to pick them up suggested they were. Maybe just nail the map and the national park info onto a notice board and include other instructions on it?

It could do with a 'follow the path' message to get you started? I just headed straight for the first 'mountain' and couldn't get up it!

The 'blue line' needs explaining. I assumed I could start walking as soon as I crossed it but you need to touch it. I found myself trying to grab stones after the line in order to get moving.

If you fall, you stop at a point where you vertically hit some terrain. In reality you would keep sliding down. I kept having to move around to intentionally fall further and get to the bottom of the drop. Somehow I survived that and could wander around again. Wouldn't you just force a restart at the last checkpoint after such an event?

The 'Y' (menu) button needs pointing out. When I fell I restarted the game as I didn't know where I was to get climbing again. I selected the 'start at last checkpoint' option but was just put back at the start tent again rather than where I was when I last played and lost all my effort.

I think a timer and table would get some competition going (maybe for each stage).
